A blocked date marks your whole store, a product, a variant, or one item as unavailable for a set period. Use it for planned downtime, photoshoots, repairs, holidays, and store closures, or any other reason a resource shouldn’t be bookable. Open blocked dates from Blocked dates.
Blocked dates remove availability for a resource across the whole store. To block selectable dates on the storefront calendar instead, such as weekends or a rolling booking window, use date picker blocked dates. To charge a different price on certain dates rather than remove availability, use overrides.

How it works

A blocked date stops new bookings for a resource without changing its visibility or status. The resource type decides how far the block reaches. Existing cycles aren’t affected. To move or cancel bookings that already sit inside the blocked period, do that from the cycle.

Create a blocked date

1

Open Blocked dates

Go to Blocked dates and select Create blocked date.
2

Pick a resource type

Set Resource type to Shop, Product, Variant, or Item. Choosing Shop blocks the whole store for the date range, with no resource to search for.
3

Search for the resource

For a product, variant, or item block, enter a title in Resource, or a SKU for a variant, and select the record. Skip this step for a shop block.
4

Set the date range

Set From and To. Leave From empty to block every date up to and including To, leave To empty to block every date from From onward, and leave both empty to block the resource indefinitely.
5

Create

Select Create. The block appears in the table and applies to availability checks straight away.
Use the create_blocked_date tool with:
  • resource_type: item, variant, or product
  • resource_id: the resource’s formatted or numeric ID
  • from and to: the date range as YYYY-MM-DD, at least one of the two
  • description: an optional note, such as Repairs
The tool asks for confirmation before it writes. Shop-wide blocks are admin only.

Manage existing blocked dates

The Blocked dates table lists every active block on the store. Use the tabs and filters to narrow it by resource type or date, and tick rows to change or remove several blocks at once. See Update blocked dates. From the Operators MCP, list_blocked_dates reads the blocks, optionally scoped to a resource or a date window, and delete_blocked_date removes one by the ID that list returns. To see how blocks and cycles sit across your variants over time, open the Schedule.
