Customer accounts is Supercycle’s self-service area for customers, built into Shopify’s customer accounts. Customers log in on your storefront and see a Supercycle dashboard with their rentals, returns, and memberships. You add the dashboard in the theme editor and configure it under Customer accounts.
Supercycle doesn’t support Shopify self-serve returns. If a customer returns an item through Shopify returns, the cycle isn’t marked as returned in Supercycle.

How it works

From their account, customers can:
  • View the details of each rental
  • Create a return and choose a return method, such as a return label or home collection
  • Change the payment method on a subscription or a membership
  • View and manage each membership, including renaming, pausing, and canceling it
  • Extend a calendar rental and pay the difference
  • Pay outstanding charges
  • Convert a rental to a purchase when you’ve turned that on

Add Supercycle to customer accounts

1

Turn on customer accounts in Shopify

Under Customer accounts in the Shopify admin, make sure Customer accounts is selected rather than legacy accounts.
2

Open the customer accounts editor

On Themes, select Customize, then use the page dropdown at the top of the editor to select Checkout and customer accounts.
3

Add the Supercycle dashboard

In the left panel, select Apps and find Supercycle. Select + next to Dashboard, then Accounts, to insert the full account view.
4

Add it to the menu

Select Add to menu so customers can reach the dashboard from their account navigation. Drag it to the top to make it the first link.
5

Save

Select Save. To test, log in to your storefront as a customer with a rental.

Set up return methods

Return methods are the ways customers can send items back from their account.
1

Open Customer accounts settings

2

Choose the return methods

Under Return methods, turn on the methods you want to offer. Collection has two extra settings: Require approval for collection requests and Allow customers to enter a collection date.

Turn on Collection under Return methods, then Save.

3

Save

Select Save in the save bar.
How each return method works on your side is on Returns.

What the customer sees

The dashboard shows the customer’s rentals with their status, any open returns, and their memberships.

Manage memberships

Customers open Membership on the dashboard to see every active or paused membership. Each appears as its own card with the membership name, its status, and a Manage membership button. A customer with more than one membership sees one card per membership and opens each one separately. On a membership page, customers can see and do the following:
  • Allowances. Credits, order and return allowances, and the next renewal date.
  • Rename membership. A custom name that shows on the dashboard and membership page. The plan title still shows underneath when it differs from the custom name.
  • Pause membership and Resume membership. Available when you turn on Cancel and pause membership under Customer accounts on the Membership method page.
  • Cancel membership. Subject to your cancellation window, minimum term, and credit-return rules.
Pause, resume, and cancel apply to the membership the customer opened, not only their most recent one.

Copy your dashboard URL

On Customer accounts, copy the Dashboard URL and use it anywhere you want customers to open their account: theme menus, email templates, or help pages. Supercycle’s transactional emails link to it automatically.
Supercycle no longer serves the legacy dashboard at paths like /apps/supercycle/. If your theme navigation, emails, or marketing still link there, replace those links with the dashboard URL or remove them.
