Plans configuration

We create a corresponding Shopify product when you create a membership plan in Supercycle, to handle billing.

The plan title is the Shopify product title and is displayed in the cart, checkout, on transactional emails, and on orders in Shopify Admin.

The maximum number of credits (or items) that a customer can spend at any one time.

The order and return allowances determine how often a customer can swap the items on their membership.

Allowances are aligned with the billing anniversary but you can set a different cadence.

For example, a customer is on a plan that is billed monthly and they took the membership out on the 1 January. You have set the swap allowance up so that they are allowed 1 order and 1 return each 3 months. They take 3 items out with their membership on 1 January. They can return their current items at any time, but their order allowance won’t reset until 1 April, so they won’t be able to rent any more items on their membership until then. They will continued to be billed on their monthly billing cycle on the 1 February and 1 March.

Swap allowances protect your margins; the majority of the cost of a rental is incurred in the logistics, so it’s in your interest to find a middle ground that meets the customers’ needs whilst limiting swap frequency. In an ideal membership, the customer would keep the same item forever!

Purchase options are the different billing cycles you want to offer to your customers.

A plan can have multiple different purchase options.

For example, you may offer a plan on a £50 monthly payment or offer the same plan on a £500 yearly payment, giving the customer the equivalent of 2 months for free in exchange for locking them in for the full 12 months.

The billing cycle a customer chooses doesn’t affect how regularly they can swap items.
